FINAL REFLECTION!

1.Look back to your earliest posts.What were you goals?Did you meet these goals?
My goals was to learn new things from my internship site and my co-workers about the work they do. Well I think i did meet those goals i learn some information about the work that i been doing during my internship site thanks to Jasmin Rivera and Bennie Matias my mentors.

2.What are the most important things you've learned?
The most important thing I've learned is organized skill and information skill.

3. In what ways have your grown as a student/young adult?
After my internship i grown in the ways that I'm more organized and knows what it's called
hard work and do all the work on time.

4.What were the highlights of your internship experience?
When i start the first 2 week of my internship i didn't learned a lot of thing 'cause we didn't have so much work to do but after this 12 week i learn many things about my site AHA! like how Hispanic work to create their own arts and painting and search for Hispanic association.

5.Describe a memorable moment of experience?
I don't think i have a memorable moment during my internship but everything was a pleasure to have worked in such a association as it is AHA!

6.What challenges did you overcome?
The challenges i have in my internship site, Still the same as the old one (organized files and search information) but i always trying to ask something when i don't understand.

7.What advice would you give a new intern at this site?Your answer to this question will be used next year with the upcoming juniors.
Well I will tell them that feel free to talk with your mentors and other people who work with you and asking anything about the work you doing so in this way you can understand and learn new things every day in you site because asking it's the most important thing that you can do.


8.What will you miss about your internship?
to be honest, I think am not going to miss anything from my internship site. If isn't this ways is because was my first time doing an internship and was totally different to what i expecting because wasn't the work that i wanted for internship but I do liked working in such a site as mine and was the place to give me new experiences to think about my career in the future. I have to thanks a lot to my mentors Jasmin R. and Bennie M. for always try to teaching us new things about their site AHA! :)

Week 3 as High School Intern!

In my internship site I almost have the same work every day, My panther of internship is Silvia, we both working together, we're searching for artist's address by their name or company's name. when they have events we both help them in anything. The site where we work it called The Association of Hispanic Arts it's a non-profit organization for Latino artist and arts administrators.
AHA was founded in 1975 during the first wave of new arts groups to be created after the birth of the national endowment for arts in 1967. AHA's mission is to promote career development, creative entrepreneur, networking opportunities for individual artist and finance independence.

Vocabulary Fifth Week!!!

TEMPLATE:

1.
Word / Phrase: Air Brush
Meaning: a device which sprays paint with compressed air to offer a broad range of applications, from wide patches of paint to thin mists enabling precise details. Context:all Wanda Ortiz use air brush to paint her art works.

2.Word / Phrase: Acrylic
Meaning:
a plastic-based painting medium which, because it is water soluble, dries quickly and cleans up easily.
Context: in my mentor's office is an acrylic blackboard and she put all the events days.


3. Word / Phrase: Acculturation
Meaning: this word can describe both cross-cultural or intercultural borrowing and the process by which person acquire knowledge of the culture in which they live. Context: i saw it in one application that my mentor gave to us.

4. Word / Phrase: Archetypical
Meaning: to me this means to represent an original type after which other similar things are patterned.
Context: I hear it from Hector Canonge he is an artist that came to my internship.

5. Word / Phrase: Gallery
Meaning: to me this means a room or building for displaying works of art.

Context: I saw this word on my internship walls.

Midpoint Reflection!!!!

How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
my expectation of my internship are learn arts and now i think my expectations wasn't what i expecting, to learn more things about arts.

What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment?
The different between school environment and workplace environment are school are a lot of noisy, people can laugh loudly and you can see all the trash everywhere. Workplace environment which is Association of Hispanic Arts everything is clean, and organized. But the similar things are they both environment is the place to learned.

What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace? Which of these are transferable skills?
One skill that I learn Is Organized Skill. In my site they always needs help with the files to putting in order and that help me to be more organized.

What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults? What kinds of communication (verbal and non-verbal skills) have you gained?
My relationship with my mentor/co-workers is very good, they always telling me things about the workshops and teaching me a little how that work. they always working so we don't talk so much during work time.


What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
The most difficult to me was speak with other in my internship. I'm shy and sometimes is hard for me to talk with others people when i don't know so much the person. i trying to improve my confidence and finally try to ask anything to other persons.

What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
I don't have the challenges in the school as a result of the altered schedule that i have to faced.

What goals are you working to accomplish during the remaining five weeks of the internship?
I want to accomplish all my tasks that my mentor gives to me And try to help her with all the work.

What new things have you learned about New York City?
well something that i learn from New York City is that anyone could created their own style no matters what others people think or say about you. your can do anything you want like work in any places no matters if it too small.

PART 1
What is it?
The site were i used to work is an non-profit Association of Hispanic Arts (AHA)

What kind of business is it and what kind of work do the professionals do there?
The Association of Hispanic Arts (AHA) is a non-profit learning institute for Latino artists and arts administrators. Its mission is to promote career development, financial independence, and networking opportunities for individual artists and creative entrepreneurs.

Where is it? What is the neighborhood like compared to where our school is?
it located at:1702 Lexington Avenue, Ground Floor
El Barrio, New York 10029

Tell a little about your mentor.
My mentor's name is Jasmin Rivera, she's Puerto Rican and Bennie Matias, she's the boss of the association. Jasmin is a person who like the work that she doing and Bennie M is an hard worker who always is busy working and they both are intelligent, honest and friendly.

What kinds of things have you done so far?
I have done many things like, putting in order alphabetic a lot of files and searching for arts associations and artists online. we also had an event about Hector Canonge is a filmmaker & New Media artist, Silvia and me help him to put all his projects in the walls for the his presentation.

What were some of the highlights of the fourth week? (Memorable moments, cool things, incredibly difficult things...) I didn't have e great week because i was hoping something different but i hope to do better in all my work.

I leave school at 12:00pm

How long does it take you to get to your internship?
It's take me 40 minutes or a hour.....

When do you arrive at home?
I arrive home at 4:00pm or 5:00pm.

I work the four days in the week from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm

How was the fourth week different than the third week?
well the third week i didn't do so much work during my internship and the fourth
week my mentor had work for us to do.

What is something that you really like about the internship?
really, am not sure about what I like of my internship.

What is something you dislike about the internship?
I'm fine with everything i do in my internship the only thing is that i would like to learn more things about mu internship's work.

FiRsT wEeK!!!

This first week, i didn't do anything my mentor was talking about all art's stuff.
so was too short. the first day that i went there i thought that i will do something about "fashion designer" but was totally different because where i work is an association of hispanic art.
